The Friends of Patapsco Valley and Heritage Greenway Inc. (FPVHG) is
dedicated to preserving , protecting, interpreting and restoring the
environment, history and culture of the Valley between Daniels and Elkridge,
Maryland.
As our membership and resources expand we hope to be able to expand
our mission.
PATAPSCO HERITAGE GREENWAY (PHG) FOCUS FOR 2008

ENVIRONMENT
- Develop and Implement Stream Watch Program
- Finish Conducting Subwatershed Recons
- Conduct Stream Cleanup to Improve the River and Chesapeake Bay
- Conduct Tree Plantings
- Conduct and Evaluate Garlic Mustard Challenge
- Participate in Patapsco Tributary Team
- Support Environmentally, Culturally, and Recreationally Sensitive
Removal of Union Dam
- Solidify Relationships with Other Environmental Groups
- Establish Working Relationship with Carroll County Planners
- Continue Improving Patapsco River Water Quality
LAND
- Work With Counties, Land Trusts and State to Preserve Land In/Adjacent
to Patapsco State Park
- Participate in State Open Space Land Prioritization
- Work with State and Counties to Obtain Simkins/St Mary's for the
State Park
- Identify Other Large Parcels Adjacent to State Park for Preservation
or Addition to the Park
TELLING THE STORY
- Add Historic Vignettes to Web Site
- Complete Park Interpretive Signs
- Begin Planning for Other Interpretive Signs
- Encourage Development of Grist Mill somewhere in PHG
- Help Create a Catonsville Gateway to PHG
- Create Working Relationships with Local Museums
- Create Working Relationships with Historical Society and Trusts
- Continue to Develop Plans for Thomas Viaduct Park
- Conduct Several Meetings on Topics of Interest Through the Year
TRAILS/PARKS
- Develop Patapsco Heritage Trail Map
- Coordinate Activities With Catonsville
Rails to Trails
- Participate in National/Regional Trail Activities
- Help Park Improve a Recreational Trail from Ellicott City to Harbor
- Assist in Developing Ellicott City/Oella Park
- Develop Connection of PHG to Regional/National Trail Systems
- Assist in Obtaining Adequate Funding for Patapsco Park
PUBLIC RELATIONS
- Maintain and Upgrade our Website
- Determine If There Is Community Interest in PHG Becoming a Certified
Heritage Area
- Develop an Active Committee to Publicize our Efforts
- Develop Good Working Relationships with Counties and State
- Develop Relationships with Hiking, Biking, Horse, and Volksmarchers
Groups
- Encourage Selling of The Patapsco River Valley Book
MEMBERSHIP
- Develop Computerized Membership Database
- Double size of our Dues Paying Membership
- Develop New Leadership
- Maintain Volunteer List for Our Activities
