BIRD WATCHING

The variety of landscapes within the Patapsco watershed and migrations during various seasons provide many opportunities for bird watching. Shore birds are common along the tidal portions of the Patapsco River and various reservoirs, lakes and ponds. A variety of ducks and geese migrate through the watershed. There are also residential flocks which stay in the area year round. Many species of forest birds are found within the Patapsco Valley State Park. In addition to birds found only in wooded areas, there are a wide variety of birds which flourish in habitats associated with urban development.
